HCFE Data

The HCFE state-level Medicaid dataset includes information on Medicaid eligibles, beneficiaries, and payments by state and year. The dataset includes variables that contain counts of eligibles and beneficiaries by type of eligibility, age, sex, and race. Beneficiaries and payments are further counted by type of service received. In addition to these broad descriptive variables, the dataset includes special sets of variables that focus on Medicaid long-term care services, managed and capitated/prepaid care, and dual Medicaid-Medicare eligibles. The most recent version of the dataset includes one observation for each state and for each federal fiscal year from 1997 through 2002. HCFE State-Level Medicaid Dataset & Documentation

The HCFE State-Level dataset is available in comma separated value, Stata v8, SAS and SAS transport formats. Because of the size of the files the comma separated value format is divided into four files. Documentation for the dataset can be found in the file "HCFE Medicaid Documentation 2005B."
